University Darts UK :: About Us

GENERAL

University darts is supposed to be fun, so this is what we aim to do. UDUK is open to all abilities. We have some great players and some not-so-great players. The main thing is we always have a laugh and socialise.UDUK is for all University students and recent alumni

HISTORY

The term “University Darts United Kingdom” (UDUK) was officially introduced in September 2009, but this is really the 3rd phase of our existence. Since 2005, inter-university darts matches have become common place, initially between York, Lancaster, Liverpool and John Moores, but this has expanded through power of Facebook, where we established the highly popular group called ‘University Darts’ in April 2007. This allowed for two team based tournaments to take place in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009, both of which Lancaster were crowned champions. Due to the inaugural singles tournament that will take place on 21 November 2009, we felt the need to collate all of our ideas under one heading, which was agreed to be UDUK in September 2009.

Note: We are not affiliated with the University Darts Corporation and will not ask you for an annual membership.

WHAT IT COSTS

We understand student finances as we are, or were, students. We understand beer comes first and paying fees comes second. UDUK is run as a non-profit, low cost organisation.
There is no annual membership fee to pay so don’t confuse us with any other organisations.
There are sometimes nominal fees to pay for equipment hire during tournaments, but there is no signing up fee for teams or individuals. If we hold a tournament that costs money, such as the singles tournament in November, then all you will pay for is the entrance fee (which doesn’t break the bank at £4!).

There may be a time in the future when there is a necessity to charge a membership fee, but as it stands, we don’t need too, so will not do so!

WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO?

We organise team and singles tournament and assist in organising inter-university friendlies. Check the Uni Darts Cup, friendlies and singles tournament pages on the website to see results, reports, statistics and photos of previous tournaments.
